About Smeana
Smeana is Syria's guide with real reviews — by real people, not ads.
In Syria, when we want to try a restaurant or find a good doctor, we ask someone we know. Smeana takes that Damascene habit and puts it in an app: every place in Damascus, and every real experience of it, in one place.
We start with Damascus, verifying places neighborhood by neighborhood by hand: confirmed numbers, real photos, correct hours. A verified place gets the Verified badge so customers know the information is guaranteed.
The base skeleton of places comes from open OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL), then verified and enriched by our team, business owners, and users. Current category photos are temporary open-license images, to be replaced by our own Damascus photography.
